WORLD PREMIERE
This is a Premiere is a genuine and entertaining reflection on courage, fear and artistic survival: a performance that transforms difficulties into art and conversation into movement. This unusual collaboration brings together for the first time two leading Italian figures on the international dance scene: Cristiana Morganti and Emanuele Soavi. Together they take to the stage: the long-time star of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, now an independent choreographer, and the choreographer influenced by William Forsythe and Jiří Kylián, who has been directing his company Emanuele Soavi incompany in Cologne for fourteen years. Through poetic dialogues of movement, they explore their artistic identities, the theme of cultural immigration and the contradictions of the world of dance. In search of themselves, Morganti and Soavi open their personal archives and stage a biographical exchange characterised by generosity, melancholy and great dedication, with humour and irony.

Cristiana Morganti has worked with a number of established choreographers such as Susanne Linke, Urs Dietrich and Joachim Schlömer, and from 1989 to 1992 she was a member of the Neuer Tanz company directed by VA Wölfl and Wanda Golonka. From 1993 to 2014, she was a solo dancer with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. In 2010, she began her career as a choreographer with two award-winning solos, Moving with Pina and Jessica and Me. Since then, she has presented her creations in countless theatres and festivals around the world. In 2025, a retrospective was dedicated to her at the Theatre de la Ville in Paris. Cristiana Morganti has also collaborated with companies and institutions for many years. She has created choreographies for the Italian company Aterballetto, the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris and the Junior Company of the Dimitri Academy of Physical Theatre in Switzerland. She collaborates regularly with the Pina Bausch Foundation and is currently an associate artist of the Teatri di Pistoia.
Emanuele Soavi began his career as a dancer at the Rome Opera House and the La Fenice Theatre in Venice. This was followed by engagements with the Dortmund Ballet and the Dutch company Introdans. Since 2006, he has been a freelance choreographer, working for the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, the Theatre in Aachen, the MM Dance Company in Reggio Emilia and the universities of Cologne, Essen and Zurich, among others. In 2012, he founded the ensemble EMANUELE SOAVI INCOMPANY, based in Cologne. In a wide variety of formats, the ensemble builds bridges between experimentation and large-scale projects, research and practice, tradition and contemporaneity, institutions and the independent scene, artists and audiences. Invitations to numerous tours and festivals in Germany, France, Italy, Ireland, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, South Korea and Belarus followed.
