DOUBLE BILL TOGETHER WITH HASARD & BOLERO
PLAYWORK is a choreographic work by Thomas Bradley and the Frankfurt-based ensemble PLAYWORK-GROUP. The performance is a study of choreographic systems and how they operate. Within defined conditions, four dancers engage one another in a practice of sustained attention. A charged, game-like atmosphere gives rise to subtle action, while modular costumes generate shifting characters. Played out against the music of Belgian composer Liesa van der Aa, the work foregrounds decision-making and the continual effort to maintain relation.

Thomas Bradley is a dancer, choreographer, and costume designer based in Frankfurt am Main. From 2012-2015, he joined Sydney Dance Company and Australian Dance Theatre. From 2017–2023, he joined Emanuel Gat Dance (France). Since 2023, he has worked with Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company. He was nominated twice for Best Male Dancer in the Australian Dance Awards, and was awarded a Tanja Liedtke Scholarship in 2015. His solo work has been presented across Europe, including Fuori Programma (Rome), Le Louvre (Paris), and festivals in Greece, Turkey, Belgium, Hungary, and Poland. Extensive studies in Japanese Butoh informed his solo yvonne and duet clay with Dai Matsuoka. Bradley’s costume designs have been commissioned by major European companies: StaatsBallett Berlin, Oper Graz, Scottish Dance Theatre, LINZ TANZ and Emanuel Gat Dance. He co-founded LANDBREAKERS and facilitates the new choreographic ensemble PLAYWORK-GROUP.
