goldroom is the second chapter of Overlook Hotel, a cycle of works that explores the relationship between body, image and memory through autonomous and interconnected choreographic installations. After redrum — winner of the 2024 Ubu Prize for Best Dance Performance — the project continues to explore the perception of time as an unstable matter. In goldroom, the stage space is transformed in relation to the presence of the performers, the lighting and the video images projected onto cathode ray tube monitors, where live footage and recorded material coexist. The aim is not to multiply points of view, but to construct, within the television set, an alternative time and space that intertwines with the real scene, following the logic of dreams, memory and hallucination. As in heist films where surveillance systems alter the sequence of events, goldroom works on synchrony and temporal deception to evoke disturbing presences, ghosts and images that return to haunt the scene.
