THE PERFORMATIVE EYE

WATCH AND REVIEW WORKSHOP
CONDUCTED BY TEATRO E CRITICA

30 JUNE>10 JULY

For the past four years, teatroecritica and Fuori Programma Festival have been developing a program of writing and viewing guidance to explore together how the perspective of those who narrate dance takes shape and expresses itself in relation to the bodies of those inhabiting the performance space. The workshop is dedicated to discussion and critical writing about the performances on the program and will focus on two main themes: festival coverage and pedagogy.
The multidisciplinary, intercultural, and intergenerational programming allows participants to cultivate a critical perspective on contemporary languages, which unfold in a polytheistic manner, creating a prism of narratives and thematic and formal possibilities.
The diversity of the offerings, alongside the pressing issues of the present, requires us to calibrate our perspective, effectively draw on our own experiences, enter the artist’s creative space, and articulate a line of reasoning—both personal and collective—through writing that serves as mediation but also as a resource for the future.
The workshop is open to a maximum of 12 people passionate about the performing arts and cultural journalism and will take place at Teatro India dal 30 giugno al 10 luglio 2026, secondo il seguente calendario:

30 giugno | Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo 17.00-19.30 – incontro + prova aperta
4 luglio | Teatro India 15.00-22.15 – incontro + spettacoli
5 luglio | Teatro India 15.00-22.30 – incontro + spettacoli
6 luglio | Teatro India 15.00-22.15 – incontro + spettacoli
7 luglio | Teatro India 15.00-22.00 – incontro + spettacoli
8 luglio | Teatro India 19.45-21.00 – solo spettacoli
9 luglio | Teatro India 19.00-22.30 – solo spettacoli
10 luglio | Teatro India 15.00-21.00 – incontro + spettacoli

The story will be divided into two parts:

  • a journalistic one with the publication of some texts on teatroecriticalab.wordpress.com and the study of the classic formats of cultural journalism: the review, the interview, the editorial, transversal articles.
  • one dedicated to social media: every day we'll work together to find the best way to publish a story about the festival calendar on social media like Instagram.

To participate: Send a cover letter, CV, and writing samples (links to articles, documents with reviews, and critiques in journalistic format) by June 20, 2026 to fuoriprogramma.prenotazioni@gmail.com

The editorial staff of Teatro e Critica and Fuori Programma will select the participants based on the submitted material.

The workshop enrollment is complimentary and included in the purchase of the season ticket for the activities of the Festival, which has a symbolic price of 30 euros.
