Life in Lycra is a duet for performer and choreographer, a humorous and physically virtuosic exploration of power dynamics on stage. Wearing only two tight-fitting Lycra leotards, the two characters go through their ever-changing relationship, constantly negotiating who is in control: the performer or the choreographer? Or perhaps someone else-or something else? Throughout the play, two Artificial Intelligence voices accompany and guide both the performers and the audience. The relationship with these voices guides and defines the choreography, suggesting new interpretations and meanings to the gestures, in a game of mutual influence, ambiguity and complicity. What begins as a simple support gradually transforms into a central dramaturgical element, capable of redefining the balance between the roles on stage and the involvement of the spectator. Life in Lycra raises questions about authority, collaboration, and the invisible forces that influence artistic creation, but it is also an investigation into the profound and at times ironic relationship between movement and language: who translates whom? Do words shape gesture or does gesture generate new narratives? The play walks this fine line, playing with the expectations and codes of both audience and performers. With a tone that is always light and ironic and a powerful and precise physical language, Life in Lycra invites us to rethink the rules of stage play and the roles of the observer and the performer.
