Jacopo Godani Godani was born in La Spezia where he began studying ballet and modern dance techniques. In 1986 he continued his studies at the international Centre of dance run by Maurice Bèjart, Mudra in Brussels. From 1991 to 2000 he was a prominent soloist in William Forsythe’s Ballet Frankfurt and he collaborated with Forsythe in the choreographic creation of many of the most representative pieces of the Ballet Frankfurt. He has been choreographer for some of the most important international companies such as: Covent Garden Royal Ballet Compañía Nacional de Danza, Nederlands Dans Theater, Royal Danish Ballet, Ballet British Columbia, Le Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse, Teatro alla Scala, Sydney Dance Company, Israeli Opera Ballet & Suzanne Dellal Centre, Het Nationale Ballet, Aterballetto, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and many others. In 2015 he was nominated Artistic Director and choreographer of the Dresden Frankfurt Dance company. In his works Godani realises all of the various phases: from the choreography to the planning and projects of spaces, lights, objects, environments where actions take place, including dramatic texts and costumes as well as music for some of his performances.
