Hope Hunt and the Ascension into Lazarus lies between the lines of physical theatre, social proclamation and dance. At humping black golf head lights on sits in waiting, Music thumping from its metal shield. A man who is many men leaks in out of the metal beat, his story, A hunt for hope.
Hope Hunt focuses on energy and emotions of a population that Oona Doherty encountered on the streets of Belfast's poorest neighborhoods, far from the luxury of residential areas. The performance reveals all the humanity behind the verbal and gestural violence, thrown on the sidewalk as the artist throws her body onstage in a dance that embodies all the narrative, dramaturgy and metamorphosis of many Irish women's stories.
