Salvo Lombardo

is a performer, choreographer, multimedia director and consultant. He’s the Artistic Director of Chiasma, which is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Culture as “organismo di produzione della danza”, an organization of dance production. His works have been hosted in many festivals, theaters, museums and independent venues both in Italy and abroad. He was director and actor of Clinica Mammut from 2012 to 2015, Anghiari Dance Hub resident choreographer in 2015 and 2016, and guest choreographer at Aura Dance Theatre in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 2017. From 2016 to 2020 Lombardo frequently worked as choreographer at Festival Fabbrica Europa. In 2017 and 2018 he has been associate artist at the Oriente Occidente Festival. He’s been working since 2018 at L’esemplare capovolto, creating a series of performances, installations, conferences, and workshops, and also at the Excelsior show, which is a coproduction that involves, among others, the Théâtre National de Chaillot, the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, and the Romaeuropa Festival. His show AMOЯ (2021), created for and with Fattoria Vittadini, is a coproduction with MILANoLTRE with the support of Teatro di Roma. His show Opacity was selected by NID – New Italian Dance Platform. Since 2019 he’s been co-creator, together with Viviana Gravano and Giulia Grechi, of Resurface Festival in Rome, a multidisciplinary festival centered on practices of decolonization, focusing on the relations between colonial imaginary and contemporary representations. Since 2021 he’s associate artist at Lavanderia a Vapore. In 2021 he was the curator of Interazioni festival (Rome), a festival based on the exchanges of practices between dance makers and the audience.

Chiasma

Chiasma Cultural Association was founded in 2017 and is based in Rome. Directed by Salvo Lombardo, it operates in the field of contemporary performance and visual art through a series of national and international activities and initiatives. The association creates and plans artistic productions, cultural events and educational activities. Since 2018 Chiasma has been recognized and financed by the Italian Ministry of Culture as a dance production organization. Besides the work of Salvo Lombardo, Chiasma supports and produces the works of Daria Greco, Fabritia D’Intino, Marta Olivieri, Valentina Pagliarani. From 2019 to 2021 Chiasma has organized and promoted a multidisciplinary festival focused on decolonization practices and on the relations between the colonial imaginary and the contemporary representations. Since 2020 Chiasma is among the founding organizations of Ostudio (Rome), an independent space for artistic cohabitation and interdisciplinary research. In 2021 Chiasma organized Interazioni festival (Rome) a project centered on the sharing of experiences between dance makers and the audience.
